History
The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail runs through Lolo Trail Ranch. Among some of the old growth trees, there are still visible Indian markings. In the late 1880's, the timbers cut from the surrounding land were used to build the railroad through the valley. This was also the era of the famous gold rush and countless gold miners panned Lolo Creek with dreams of striking it rich! Homestead and sawmill landmarks still remain sprinkled throughout the property keeping alive the memories of the past.
Landscape
Bordered by the famous Selway Bitterroot Wilderness, Lolo Trail Ranch has some of the most beautiful scenery Montana has to offer. Sweeping views of snow capped peaks surround the ranch, including the stunning Lolo Peak, elevation 9,137 ft. It is common to see elk grazing with the cattle out on the range.
